Membership

Thank you for your interest in Wightman Tennis Center. To learn more about the application process, please read below and download our membership application packet. Once your completed application and $100 non-refundable application fee have been received, the Vice President – Member Relations and the Membership Committee will review and evaluate the application.

Applicants must be financially qualified persons of good character over age twenty-one who have secured both a primary and a secondary sponsor, both of whom must be existing Members. Applicants must authorize their sponsors to disclose information to the Vice President – Member Relations for the purpose of investigating their background, character, general reputation, compatibility with the values of the Center, financial qualifications and any other matters the Vice President – Member Relations considers relevant. This process may include reference and background checks, a consumer credit report and/or a review of social media, in addition to other potential types of investigation.

As part of the evaluation process, the Vice President – Member Relations shall distribute to all Members the names of prospective applicants for comment.

Applications are processed in the order received and recommendations for acceptance are sent to the Board for review. Applicants approved by the Board will be invited in writing to join the Center and have their names placed on the Wait List. If you decide to accept the invitation to join, you must then respond positively in writing to the Vice President – Member Relations within 14 days and submit a $500 non-refundable Wait List deposit.

If you decide to withdraw your application for membership, this deposit will be forfeited. Once your Wait List deposit is received, your name will be added to the bottom of the Wait List. Shortly before your name gets to the top of the Wait List, you will be notified by the Center, so that you will have time in advance to procure the necessary funds for joining the Center. You will incur the following financial obligations upon joining:
  • An investment of $5,000 in a non-interest bearing certificate, signifying your membership in the Center. This certificate is redeemable only upon your resignation from the Center and replacement by an approved successor.
  • A non-refundable initiation fee of $10,000 paid as a one-time fee upon joining, or as an installment plan of two equal payments of $5,500 ($5,500 due upon joining, and $5,500 due on your 1-year anniversary of joining the Center). Resignation from the Center prior to the 2nd installment payment will result in a forfeiture of your bond certificate.
  • Annual dues of $3,450, which are pro-rated according to the date on which you join the Center.
  • Any assessment of the membership in accordance with the By-laws of the Center.
  • A $500 credit for your Wait List deposit.​
